What Does an ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) Doctor Do?

An ENT (ear, nose, and throat) physician, also called an otolaryngologist, is a medical doctor who specializes in treating conditions of the ear, nose, and throat. Common ENT conditions treated are sinusitis, nasal obstruction, chronic rhinitis and post nasal drip, chronic cough, nasal allergy symptoms, sinus headaches, deviated nasal septum, turbinate hypertrophy, and frequent ear infections.

Most common ENT diseases are on a spectrum of complexity and other ENT conditions are rare but can have very serious consequences. Benign and malignant nasal or sinus tumors  and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks are challenging diagnoses and require medical and surgical expertise and experience in advanced endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery. In Idaho, this combination is found only at the Treasure Valley Nasal & Sinus Center. 

Many otolaryngologists can treat frequent nosebleeds, perform functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), or surgically put ear tubes in younger patients (also called a myringotomy).

Specialized surgical experience
Dr. Killian completed an otolaryngology residency and an additional year of fellowship training in rhinology and anterior skull base surgery. After this fellowship, he practiced in Boise for 8 years, earning the trust of both patients and referring physicians. He is the only fellowship-trained sinus and anterior skull base surgeon in Idaho and has worked hard to develop a reputation as the best and most experienced sinus surgeon in the region that many patients are willing to travel long distances to see.
Patient comfort and understanding
For many surgeons, once a patient recovers from surgery, the doctor often does not see that patient again. At Treasure Valley Nasal and Sinus Center, this is less often the case. It is extremely important to us that our patients are heard and that concerns are addressed. It is vital that we take the time with you to make treatment successful.
